Book PR // Case Study
Subconsciously: a hard-hitting campaign which secured Daily Mail front page for clinical psychologist, Aaron Surtees
The Book Publicist campaign secured incredibly publicity for new book Subconsciously and the author's business.
Aaron Surtees
To launch Subconsciously by clinical psychologist Aaron Surtees, we facilitated a high-impact, fast-moving publicity campaign that directly drove book sales, app downloads, new client leads and speaking enquiries – proving the unparalleled power of PR for building your brand and boosting visibility
Coverage that drives sales
A standout front page Daily Mail feature saw a journalist trial a hypnotherapy session with Aaron on food cravings, playfully and topically coined ‘Hypnozempic’. The results were instant: over 500 book sales in 48 hours, 42 new client enquiries, five speaking invitations, a surge in subscriptions to Aaron’s app, plus a leap in the Amazon Health & Wellness bestseller charts from no. 8467 to 103!
Broadcast & international media
Broadcast appearances on national radio on BBC Radio 5 Live (not once but twice!) and BBC Radio Solent during publication week added to the momentum, while a major national feature in The Daily Telegraph explored the power of Aaron’s methods for tackling phobias. Further coverage included Psychologies Magazine, Yahoo Life, and the New Zealand Herald, in which we showcased the broad appeal of hypnotherapy for everything from sleep and smoking to confidence and cravings.
Positioning Aaron as a thought leader on the psychology of leadership and mental wellbeing at work, we also secured business-focused coverage in the likes of Entrepreneur UK, CEO World, and the CIPD’s People Management magazine.
This creative, commercially driven campaign proved that a well-honed PR strategy does indeed generate real-world results with a long-term impact.

The Book Publicist team secured an opportunity with a journalist at the Daily Mail which directly led to 500+ book sales in 48 hours, 5 speaking invitations and 42 new client enquiries. Subscriptions for my app Subconsciously also almost doubled and the book jumped from #8467 to #103 in Amazon’s Health & Wellness. The ripple effect from the publicity they achieved was undeniable – incredible results.
