Under the Knife: A successful launch of this brilliant new memoir, creating a buzz across national newspapers, radio and TV
The Book Publicist were honoured to share the memoir of cancer surgeon-turned patient
Liz O’Riordan
Published by Unbound, Liz’s book explores how she found herself on the other side of the operating table following a cancer diagnosis. Launching with impact during publication week, we secured back-to-back Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday book extracts, alongside a major interview in The Daily Telegraph. Newsweek also featured a moving book extract, cementing the book’s powerful appeal on both sides of the Atlantic.
Winning Guardian review and daytime TV interviews
TV coverage included a standout interview on ITV’s Lorraine, where Liz shared her story from the iconic breakfast sofa. Her voice was further amplified with a feature-length op-ed in The Guardian, and a glowing review of Under the Knife in The Guardian books section.
More TV and podcasts
Beyond her own story, Liz became a powerful advocate for systemic change, with a hard-hitting interview on BBC News calling out sexual harassment in the NHS.
Liz’s podcast appearance on Off Air with Jane & Fi – one of the UK’s most influential talk shows – sparked thousands of conversations, and her story was shared in key national titles including The Times, The Sun, iNews, Metro, HuffPost, Red and Prima.
In addition, The Book Publicist secured over 10 radio interviews, including Times Radio and regional BBC stations, giving Liz a platform to speak candidly and courageously about life, loss and learning to heal.

My goal was to get on TV and [The Book Publicist] made that happen three times, including the Lorraine show. I appeared in every national newspaper, many national and local radio shows and several magazines… I was blown away by the publicity they achieved for the book, but also their caring and competent team.
